Charlene's Introduction Blog

Hello, everyone! My name is Charlene, but I do prefer to be called Char. I live in Kodiak, an island off the coast of Alaska. In my spare time, I enjoy wandering around the small island with my dog, Nami. My hobbies include collecting keychains and capturing images of beautiful scenery. I am a Justice student at UAF, and this is my third year. In the near future (once I have completed my bachelor's), I hope to continue towards a Master's degree and become a private investigator. Or, possibly attend law school. Nice to meet all of you!

For the photo(s) segment of our blog, I specifically chose images that pertains to music and is appealing to me. These images are from concerts I attended. They are from the same group, and the image to the left is from 2022 and the right is from 2025.

I adore listening to music. I actually have a time set aside to listen to music, since classes have started and my work is overloaded. I am not that talented to play instruments, nor I can sing. However, in middle school I did do choir and learned how to play the piano. I listen to a variety of music from Rap to K-pop (2 of my favorite genres). I have attended only 2 concerts, as you can see from the images I have chosen. Concerts and music venues are a bit over-stimulating and overwhelming (and expensive..), so it's a treat for myself. I prefer to listen on my phone and watch music videos.

  1. I used to collect keychains, too. Not for any artistic purposes, but to make my work keys this huge, easily identifiable blob of color. Like you, I love music videos.

  2. Hi Char! I have a big keychain collection too; every time I go to a new place, I get one. Is that how you acquire your keychains, too? I think it is so cool that you want to be a private investigator. I have only seen the job in movies, and it looks like a super fun career. I also think it's amazing that you set time aside to listen to music. That is a great way to get your mind off of school work for the semester!

    1. Hi, Cora! That is one way I acquire my keychains! A majority of my collection comes from gifts.

  3. Hello! I have never known anyone to collect keychains, but wow, even two others in comments! Do you have a special place you keep them, or attach them to anything and everything?

I used to be interest in being a Private Investigator, but I did some work in Collections and I felt those areas of work may lose friends. :(
